The Lady of the Moonlight (1977), part of the GNO’s Opera Cycle, was a lecture/presentation event at the Olympia Theatre Foyer (15 December 2013, free admission) about the one-act opera by Yorgos Sicilianos (1920-2005), one of the leading proponents of Greek avant-garde music, directed by Ilias Kountis. Based on Yiannis Ritsos’s famous stage poem Moonlight Sonata, the work is written for a mezzo-soprano and a small music ensemble.
