Mission of the Greek National Opera

Our Mission

As Greece’s only national opera company, the Greek National Opera is dedicated to advancing and expanding the art of opera and dance. Through a diverse programme of opera, ballet, operetta, music theatre, concerts, and productions for children and young audiences, it brings together a rich artistic heritage and contemporary creation, supports Greek artists and creators, and places the performing arts in dialogue with society today.

The Greek National Opera continues to broaden its repertoire, develop international co-productions and partnerships, offer contemporary interpretations of classic works, and strengthen its presence beyond Greece, connecting the great tradition of opera and dance with the present.
