The mission of the Greek National Opera is to offer Greek and international audiences high-quality productions, presenting operas, ballets, operettas, children’s operas, recitals, and more.
The Greek National Opera also operates a Higher Professional School of Dance, as well as educational programs aimed at all age groups. Performances are held at the GNO’s two venues at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (the Stavros Niarchos Hall and the Alternative Stage) and at the Herodes Atticus Conservatory. The repertoire of Greece’s only national opera house spans four centuries of opera, from works by Monteverdi to those by contemporary Greek composers.
