- Alternative Scene
I was born on a Tuesday night in Athens in 1957. I grew up in a penthouse behind Panathinaikos’ stadium and, before I finished high school, I was already playing music. It was always what I wanted to do. I was lucky, my parents were open-minded and sent me to study music in London and Paris from 1975 to 1980. When I returned to Greece, I met Hadjidakis and Savvopoulos, who still influence me, the same way as Tsitsanis, Kaldaras and many others whom I never met in person. For some years, I worked as a musician and an orchestrator; since 1986, I have been writing music for the theatre, for the cinema (Peppermint, Uranya and Magic Hour by Costas Kapakas, Cheap Smokes by Renos Haralambidis, Nicostratos le pélican by Οlivier Horlait) as well as songs (on lyrics by Michalis Ganas, Aris Davarakis, my own, etc). I write music for almost anyone who asks.
