Internationally acclaimed Greek baritone Aris Argiris is one of the leading singers in front of the opera and concert public today. He has worked among others with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Guillermo García Calvo, Kurt Masur, Christian Thielemann, Yakov Kreizberg, Gustav Kuhn, Donato Renzetti, Manfred Honeck, Walter Attanasi, Graeme Jenkins, Carlo Franci, Antonello Allemandi, Patrick Lange and Carlo Rizzi. After fixed engagements at Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, Theater Dortmund and Bonn Opera, he was a member of Oper Frankfurt till 2011. Since then he has been a regular guest of international venues such as Arena di Verona, St Petersburg, Opéra de Montréal, Gärtnerplatztheater München, Athens Epidaurus Festival, International Gluck Festival, Musiktheater im Revier, Semperoper Dresden, Vlaamse Opera, Royal Opera House in London, Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, La Monnaie in Brussels, Theater Freiburg, Theater an der Wien, Theater Chemnitz, Scottish Opera, Theater St Gallen, Theater Bern , Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of maestro Zubin Mehta, Hamburg State Opera, Teatro di San Carlo (Napoli), Essen Aalto Musiktheater, Theater Bonn, San Diego Opera, New National Theatre, Tokyo, Staatsoper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Savonlinna Opera Festival, Volksoper Wien, Teatro Verdi Trieste and many more. Since 2016 he has been a professor at Berlin University of the Arts. He has recorded: Ariadne (Dithyrambos) for baritone and orchestra by Siegfried Matthus and the aria of Holofernes from the Matthus opera Judith on CD (Genuin) with the Württemberg Philharmonic in Reutlingen, Das Wunder der Heliane by E. W. Korngold with Theater Freiburg (Naxos). From his debut at the Royal Opera House in London a DVD of Georges Bizet’s Carmen was released, where he is interpreting the role of Escamillo. He is a winner of the Maria Callas competition for scholarships in Athens as well as of the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinsberg, which gave him the opportunity to perform the role of Don Giovanni. In 2007 he was nominated for and won the prize of the Best Young Artist of Greece. He fluently speaks English, German, Italian, and Spanish.
