Pigeons, the descendants of the Rock Dove or Rock Pigeon, as Darwin used to call it (scientific name: Columbia Livia), are birds of the Columbidae family. They are known for having adapted exceptionally well to life in the city the world over. Most species are gray-blue, and white on the sides, while the Indian subspecies Columba livia intermedia, recorded by Strickland, is light blue on the sides. Their tail ends in a dark line and their wings are marked by two black lines.

Pigeons may be found in various locations around the Park, while their favorite spot is the terraced bank of the Canal because there they can enjoy the view to the fountains as well as treats from visitors.
